Denver, Colorado, is a city where the stunning natural landscape of the Rocky Mountains meets the complexities of urban development. Known for its vibrant cultural scene and rapid growth, Denver also grapples with significant environmental challenges.

On a Be The Neighbor trip to Denver, participants will engage deeply with the concept of Environmental Justice through a variety of hands-on and reflective activities. Groups will contribute to waterway clean-ups, addressing pollution in Denver's rivers and streams, and explore the effects of urban heat islands, learning strategies to mitigate their impact on the city’s environment. Your group will also work to remove invasive species that threaten local biodiversity, and participate in greening initiatives aimed at improving urban sustainability. Participants will have the opportunity to connect with nature through birding excursions and a Wild Worship experience.

Overall, the Denver trip provides a comprehensive exploration of environmental justice, offering participants both the opportunity to actively support local efforts and to reflect on your role in fostering a more sustainable and equitable world.

Your group will explore how the topics you’re learning about are relevant to your own community and will develop a plan for how you can continue this work when you get home. Be The Neighbor weeks are learning and launching trips, meaning participants will leave the week equipped to live lives of love, service, and justice in ways that are relational, sustainable, and dignity-affirming!

Be The Neighbor’s summer programming begins on Sunday evening and concludes on Friday morning. This location does not have the option to spend an extra night.
