Texas is the leading state in the U.S. for refugee resettlement, and Fort Worth is a key hub. As a central point for welcoming newcomers, Fort Worth provides a unique opportunity to engage deeply with the experiences and challenges faced by refugees.

On a Be The Neighbor trip to Fort Worth, participants will immerse themselves in the world of refugee resettlement and advocacy. Your group will learn from refugees themselves and from nonprofit leaders and activists dedicated to supporting these communities. Through education and service, groups will gain insight into the complexities of the U.S. refugee and asylum process. Hands-on activities may include working with local resettlement agencies to set up apartments for newly arrived families, providing essential groceries, and engaging with refugee children. Together, we’ll learn how we can advocate for more equitable and supportive refugee policies and use our voices to effect change.

Your group will explore how the topics you’re learning about are relevant to your own community and will develop a plan for how you can continue this work when you get home. Be The Neighbor weeks are learning and launching trips, meaning participants will leave the week equipped to live lives of love, service, and justice in ways that are relational, sustainable, and dignity-affirming!
Be The Neighbor’s summer programming begins on Sunday evening and concludes on Friday morning. You may stay an additional night to explore see the city in this location for an additional $10 per person. Check out is 10 am Saturday morning.
