Dates & Information

Denver Creation Care & Eco-Justice is a CONNECT TRIP appropriate for youth who have completed grades 6 through 12 and intergenerational groups.

Dates:

  • June 16 - 21: FILLED
  • June 23 - 28: FILLED
  • June 30 -  July 5: 15 spots left

In the middle of the soaring mountains and the beautiful nature of Denver, your group will learn how to be good caretakers of creations and how to be leaders for eco-justice in your own community!  Your group will learn how our faith calls us to care for creation, how environmental justice directly affects us and our neighbors, and what we can do about it. Each day will include hands-on service, learning from advocates, educators and nonprofit leaders, scripture and prayer partners, and a time to connect what you are doing back home to your own community.  You will work with and learn from places like: Metro Caring, Ekar Farms, Water Justice Greenway Foundation, Trout Unlimited, Aurora Xeriscape Demonstration Garden, Denver Digs Trees,  350.org, Cultivando Advocacy and more. You will spend a day using public transportation and learn how transportation decisions can benefit the environment. You will visit and learn from a local church that has become a net zero facility, and learn how your church might work toward that goal. You will participate in a world climate simulation, learn about environmental racism in the most polluted zip code in the US, and spend time in the mountains soaking in the beauty of creation and remembering why we must protect it.

Programming begins on Sunday evening and concludes on Friday morning.

Cost is $350 per participant and includes:

  • Breakfast and Lunch, Monday morning through Friday morning. (Dinners on your own.)
  • Lodging in a local church.
  • A dedicated Site-Coordinator & trained young adult staff to facilitate your week.
  • Fully planned service and educational experiences.
  • Honorariums for speakers, costs for activities, entrance fees.
  • A t-shirt for each participant.
  • Online training for your adult leaders in late May or early June.

Note that your group is responsible for transportation during the week.
